George Wyndham was born in 1863. After an education at Eton and Sandhurst, he joined the Coldstream Guards.

In 1883 Wyndham became private secretary to Arthur Balfour. Two years later he was elected Conservative MP for Dover. In 1898 the Marquess of Salisbury appointed Wyndham as under-secretary to the War Office. He was promoted to Chief Secretary for Ireland where his main achievement was the passing of the Irish Land Act in 1903.

Wyndham lost office when Henry Campbell-Bannerman, the leader of the Liberal Party, came to power in 1905.

George Wyndham died in 1913.
