Geoffrey Bing
Geoffrey Bing was born on 24th July, 1909. Educated at Tonbridge School and Lincoln College, Oxford, he became a lawyer.
A member of the Labour Party, Bing was elected to represent Hornchurch in the 1945 General Election. In the House of Commons Bing associated with a group of left-wing members that included Konni Zilliacus, Ian Mikardo, Barbara Castle, Sydney Silverman and Emrys Hughes.
Bing was defeated in the 1955 General Election. The following year he moved to Ghana where he was Constitutional Adviser to President Kwame Nkrumah (1956-66). He also worked as Attorney General of Ghana (1957-61).
Geoffrey Bing died on 24th April, 1977.
