Albert Carnelly played for Notts County, Loughborough, Nottingham Forest, Leicester Fosse, and Bristol City before joining Thames Iron Works in 1899. He scored two goals on his home debut against Chatham. He then went ten games without scoring. His form eventually returned and he scored both goals in the club's 2-1 victory over Gravesend. Carnelly ended up with 14 goals that season but the club still finished second from bottom of the league. He left the club in 1900 and played for Millwall and Ilkeston Town before retiring from football.
