Mountain Lion

The mountain lion, also known as the puma, panther or cougar, grows to more than 8 feet long and generally weigh between 130 and 150 pounds. Adult females can be 7 feet long and weigh between 65 and 90 pounds. It feeds on deer, elk, bighorn sheep and horses. However, it rarely makes unprovoked attacks on humans. As a result of the damage it did to domestic livestock mountain lions were targeted by professional hunters. Mountain lions live in many different habitats but today they are usually found in remote regions such as the Rocky Mountains.
